/hands in film
This project was about trying to recreate iconic shots from cinema that featured the close ups of hands. This project carries references that could be echoed through August Sander's photographs of hands capturing different professional types during the 1920's. Another reference point is that of Douglas Gordons's Feature Film (1998) that he did with conductor James Conlon. He conducted an orchestra playing the Vertigo score for Alfred Hitchcock's (1958) Vertigo, where he captured the hands of the conductor as he conducted the orchestra.
The images included in my project capture scenes from 12 Angry Men (1957), Aliens (1986), The Color of Money (1986) and The Blues Brothers (1980).
